Cleaning and Caring for Plumbing Fixtures
Spout Aerators
- Close the drain when cleaning the spout aerator to avoid losing any parts
- Unscrew the aerator from the spout (wearing rubber gloves will help to unscrew aerators that may be stuck in place)
- Gently scrub the inside part with an old toothbrush to loosen any foreign materials
- Rinse with water and screw the aerator back into the spout
- Turn the water on slowly to test for leaks. If it leaks, tighten it until it stops leaking (wearing rubber gloves will allow you to tighten the aerator more securely, giving you extra holding power)
- Be careful not to scratch or bend the aerator by using pliers
