Cleaning and Caring for Plumbing Fixtures
Thermostatic Valves

It is normal for a minimal amount of water that remains in the pipes to drip from the shower head after shutting off the valve. The dripping can last as long as three minutes to enable the water in the pipes to drain. If dripping lasts for longer than three minutes, one of two problems likely has occurred. One option is the mechanical stop is not set properly causing the cartridge to remain partially open. A second option is that the cartridge needs to be replaced.
  • Clean thermostatic filters annually. Refer to the instruction sheet that came with the unit for the removal and cleaning of the cartridge and filters, or refer this service to a professional plumber
  • Thermostats should be routinely turned through the entire temperature range once a month with the volume control fully open for maximum water flow to ensure that the thermostat cartridge works efficiently
  • Dirty filters may reduce the water flow rate. To remove mineral deposits, soak the cartridge in white vinegar for several hours, then re-install
