Vintage Breuer Cesca Chair

Price for 1 chair (Sold as a Set)

The revolutionary Cesca chair was designed by Hungarian architect and furniture designer Marcel Breuer. Inspired by the frame of a bicycle, Breuer crafted the cantilever base using tubular steel, an innovative material not typically used in furniture design at the time.It sports a woven cane seat and back supported on a cantilevered style frame crafted from tubular steel, making it functional, lightweight, and comfortable.

Born in Hungary in 1902, architect and designer Marcel Breuer was one the 20th century’s most influential and innovative adherents of modernism. Breuer joined Bauhaus, the progressive German art and design school, in 1920 and quickly impressed Gropius, the school’s founder, with his aptitude for furniture design. In 1925, while he was head of the Bauhaus furniture workshop, Breuer realized his signature innovation: the use of lightweight tubular-steel frames for chairs, tables and sofas - a technique soon adopted by others.
