Vintage Finn Juhl Bwana Chair

Designed by Finn Juhl for France & Son Denmark

Vintage Finn Juhl Bwana Chair

Full of bold proportions, this vintage Bwana Lounge chair was designed by Finn Juhl and manufactured by France and Son, circa 1960s. Inspired by ancient tribal weaponry and armour, the organic shape of its armrests and the sloping seat make it a visually stunning seat choice. Providing exceptional back and neck support, this iconic piece features a sculpted teak wood frame and has its original black supple leather cushions.

Finn Juhl (1912-1989) was one of the most influential designers of the mid-century. Graduating from the Royal Academy of Copenhagen, Juhl was an architect for many years and designed furniture for his own interiors. Emphasizing form rather than function, Juhl was known for bringing a sculptural mind-set to his designs. Although initially criticized, his work became a pioneering vision for the Danish design movement.
