Description

An icon of modern furniture production, this vintage H-269 Lounge Chair was designed by Jindrich Halabala for Up Závody, circa 1930s. One of Jindrich Halabala's most famous designs, this lounge chair was one of the first mass-produced furniture pieces from Czechoslovakia. Featuring an elegantly curved plywood arm that curls down into a supportive base, this chair's plush seat is given an inviting comfort.

Jindrich Halabala (1903-1970) was a designer who is credited with ushering in the mass market production of furniture in his native Czechoslovakia. He believed that furniture could be well-finished and widely accessible, which lead him into pioneering many series of modular furniture that would go on to inspire a generation of designers.
