Vintage Ostervig Lounge Chair

Safari-style lounge chair in pine, designed by Kurt Ostervig for KP Jorgensens Mobelfabrik. Features a belted sling seat and back in tan leather.

Danish furniture designer Kurt Ostervig (1912-1986) began his career as a naval architect in Odense, Denmark’s third city. He switched to furniture design because of his passion for woodworking and worked for manufacturer E. Knudsen before opening his own studio in 1947. Ostervig continued to work as a freelance designer for the rest of his career, collaborating with an array of Danish furniture brands in the mid-century era. He was exceptionally versatile, designing furniture for hotels, cinemas, and won numerous design competitions. Some of his pieces have been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art of New York.
