Vintage Poul Hundevad Bookcase

Designed by Poul Hundevad for Hundevad Mobelfabrik

Vintage Poul Hundevad Bookcase

A stunning display of aged wood, this vintage bookcase was designed by Poul Hundevad and produced by Hundevad Mobelfabrik, Denmark. Carrying all the trademarks of classic Scandinavian mid-century design, this bookcase features a boxy shape full of a mix of short and tall open shelving and is set on tapered legs.

Danish furniture designer and producer Poul Buch Hundevad was born in Vamdrup in 1917. Hundevad trained as a carpenter before establishing his own cabinetmaking shop and furniture factory, Hundevad & Co., at the beginning of the 1950s in his hometown. Like many of his mid-century Scandinavian contemporaries, Hundevad favored high-quality materials, such as rosewood and teak, and created furniture that was aesthetically clean and simple, yet multifunctional in practice. He was an expert in joinery, and most of his designs incorporate skilled techniques.
