Vintage Mogensen Model 537 Oresund Chair

A display of fine craftsmanship, this vintage Model 537 'Oresund' Chair was designed by Børge Mogensen and manufactured by Karl Andersson & Söner, circa 1960s. Featuring a hand-woven seat in natural paper cord wrapped over an oak frame, this chair was inspired by American Shaker furniture and was one of the first mass produced successes for Karl Andersson & Söner. The organic feel and use of natural materials are all signature traits that contribute to this chair’s unwavering timelessness.

Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of the most influential designers shaping Modern Danish design. He found inspiration worldwide in his quest to create everyday objects that would endure for generations, believing that furniture should create a sense of tranquility and a modest appearance. He was acclaimed for his masterful sense of materials and proportions, creating designs celebrated and showcased in leading design museums worldwide.
